Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

The doctrinal belief of this church shall conform to that of the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation; the statement of faith given below shall be accepted as a true exposition of these salient points of Bible teaching.

  • Verbal, Plenary Inspiration

We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally and fully inspired by God, that they are inerrant, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. Isa. 40:8; 11 Tim. 3:16-17; 11 Peter 1:19-21; John 17:17. We use only the King James Version.

  • The Trinity

We believe in one God, absolute, eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, manifesting Himself in three coequal Persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit  one in nature, attributes, power and glory. Gen. 1:1-27; Matthew 3:17; Matthew 28:19; 11 Corinthians 13:14; John 1:1-4,14,18; Acts 5:34; 1 John 4:12-15; 1 John 5:7.

  • Deity of Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and that He is true God and true man. Isa. 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-35; Phil. 2:6-11; Col. 1:13-20; Heb. 1:13; John 10:30.

  • Total Depravity

We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are under condemnation which God's righteousness requires. Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7-9; 3:1-19; Psalm 51:5; Isa. 64:6; Romans 1:18-21; 3:10-12,23; 3:19-20; 5:12 7:14-24; 8:5-9; Gal. 3:22; 5:19-21; 1 Cor. 2:14; 2 Cor. 4:3-4; John 3:36.

  • Substitutionary Atonement, Justification by Faith

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who trustingly believe in Him are justified from all things on the ground of His shed blood and are saved by grace, through faith, wholly apart from human merit and works. Acts 13:38-39; Romans 3:19-28; 4:25; 10:1-13; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 3:3-8; Genesis 3:15; Lev. 17:11; Heb. 9:22,28; 1 Peter 3:18; 2:24-25; 3:18; Isa. 53:6; Romans 5:6-9; 1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:21; Gal. 3:13; 1 Timothy 2:5-6.

  • New Birth

We believe that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ in trusting faith are born again by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God, and thereby become the children of God. Regeneration is not the reformation of the Adamic nature, but rather the creation of a new nature by the Holy Spirit. John 3:3-16; 1:12-13; 1 Peter 1:23,25; 1 Cor. 15:13; 2 Cor. 5:17; 1 John 5:1; Gal. 3:26; 6:16; 4:4-7; Romans 8:9; 8:14-17.

  • Two Natures

We believe that those who are born again possess two natures, and that they may be victorious over the old through the power of the new, but that the eradication of the old is unscriptural. Romans 6:13; 8:23,12,131 13:14; Gal. 5:16; Eph. 4:22-24; Col. 3:13; I Peter 1:14-16.

  • Eternal Security

We believe that a true exposition of the righteousness of God revealed (Rom. 1:17), requires the true doctrine of the eternal security of the truly regenerate believer. We reject the teaching that a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ is license for sin with the mistaken notion that Scriptures guarantee eternal security upon simple profession, or that the believer has no further obligation to the Holy will of God. Eph. 2:8-9; 1:3-13; 4:30; John 5:24; 10:27-30; Ps. 37:28; Titus 3:58.

  • Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, the Administrator of the Godhead, regenerating the lost, convincing of sin, completing the church (called out ones placed into the living body of Christ), energizing believers in prayer, worship and service, and is ever present in the believer as sanctifying Comforter and helper. Genesis 41:38; John 14:16,17,26; 15:26; 16:1-14; Romans 8:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:19; 12:13; 11 Thessalonians 2:7; Gal. 5:16-17; Eph. 2:22; 4:30; 5:18.

  • Resurrection and Present Ministry of Christ

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified, physical body of our Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into Heaven and His present life there as our High Priest, Advocate and Intercessor. John 2:18-20; 20:1-29; Mark 16:1-14; Luke 24:1-26; Acts 3:31; 1:9-11; 1 Cor. 15:3-25; 1 Peter 1:34; 3:22; Eph. 1:20-22; Col. 3:13; Heb. 1:3; 3:1; 4:14-15; 8:1; 7:25; 9:24; Romans 8:34; I John 2:12.

  • Existence of Satan

We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin and the cause of the fall of man; that he is the open and declared enemy of God and man; he is the god of this world and active today; and that he shall eternally be punished in the lake of fire. Job 1:67; Isa. 1:14:12-17; 1 Peter 5:89; Revelation 20:10.

  • The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the personal, bodily, visible, premillennial, pretribulation return of Jesus Christ to Rapture His people and to establish His Kingdom on the earth, reigning as the Only Potentate, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. John 14:13; 1 Thess. 4:13-19; Acts 1:11; Titus 2:11-13; 1 Cor. 15:51-58; Rev. 1:7; Genesis 13:14-17; 17:18; 11 Samuel 7:11-16; Ps. 89:30-36; Daniel 2:31-35; 2:44-45; Zechariah 14:19; Matthew 24:31; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-10;1 Timothy 6:14-15; Rev. 11:15-20.

  • Resurrection and Judgment

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; the saved to a life of eternal glory and bliss in Heaven with Christ; the unsaved to eternal judgment and conscious suffering and woe in the lake of fire. Luke 16:19-31; 1 Cor. 3:11-15; Daniel 12:2; John 5:24, 28,29; Rev. 20:6, 11-15; 21:8; Matthew 25:41-46; Mark 9:43-49.

  • The Local Church

We believe in the importance of the local church, that a New Testament Church is a local assembly of born again, baptized believers united in organization to practice New Testament ordinances, to meet together for worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching and united testimony, and to actively engage in carrying out the Great Commission. Acts 2:41; 4:32; Matthew 28:1920. We also believe in the independence and autonomy of the local church: that each New Testament church is free to govern itself without ecclesiastical interference, and should cooperate with other New Testament churches as the Holy Spirit leads: that it is the responsible to follow the pattern of the New Testament Church and is directly accountable to God. Acts 6:16; Galatians 1:12

  • Separation

We believe that all believers should live in such a way as not to bring reproach upon their Savior. We, as a church, stand against the use of tobacco, alcoholic beverages, gambling, card playing, dancing, worldly movies, rock music and mixed bathing. We believe that Christians should dress modestly and discreetly. In short, we stand against any worldly amusement or practice that would be harmful to the testimony of the Christian. Romans 12:12; 11 Cor. 6:14-18; 1 Thessalonians 5:22; 2 Timothy 2:19; 1 John 2:15-17.

  • Evangelism

We believe that it is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to be a personal soul-winner and to do his or her utmost to give the Gospel of Christ to the whole world. We believe that it is the responsibility to have a worldwide missionary program supported by Faith Promise giving. Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 8:14; John 17:18; 20:21; II Cor. 5:20; Rev. 1:56; 1 Thessalonians 2:19; Ps. 126:56.

  • Baptism

We believe that Scriptural baptism is the immersion of the believer in water to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem of our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Savior, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life. Matthew 28:19,30; Acts 8:36-39; 18:8; 1 Peter 3:21; Romans 6:45: We reject the notion of baptismal regeneration. I Cor. 12:13; Gal. 3:27; 6:15; Romans 6:13; 1 Peter 1:23-25.

  • Lord's Supper

We believe that the Lord's Supper is a memorial service and is the setting forth in a sacred and symbolic manner the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf, "till He Come". The emblems of the communion service are not literally the body and blood of Christ, nor do they contain his flesh and blood. The Service is for believers only and should be preceded by self-examination. I Corinthians 11:23-32

  • Spiritual Gifts

We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowal of all His gifts: and that the gifts of evangelists, pastors, and teachers are sufficient for the perfecting of the saints today; we do not believe that the present-day healing movements, the working of sign miracles and the speaking of tongues are Scriptural or needed for the edifying of the body of Christ.  We reject the modern day Charismatic movement. I Cor. 12:4-11; 2 Cor. 12:12; Eph. 4:7-12.

  • Marriage

We believe that the term "marriage" has only one, legitimate meaning, and that is marriage sanctioned by God, which joins one man and one woman in a single, covenantal union, as delineated by Scripture. Marriage ceremonies performed in any facility owned, leased, or rented by this church will be only those ceremonies sanctioned by God, joining one man with one woman as their gender was determined at birth. Whenever there is a conflict between the church's position and any new legal standard for marriage, the church's statement of faith, doctrines, and biblical positions will govern. (Gen. 2:24; Eph. 5:22-23; Mark 10:6-9; 1 Cor. 7:1-9)

  • Divorce and Remarriage

We believe that God disapproves of divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies. Divorce and remarriage is regarded as adultery except on the grounds of fornication. Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may not be considered for the offices of pastor or deacon. (Mal. 2:14-17; Matt. 19:3-12; Rom. 7:1-3; 1 Tim. 3:2, 12; Titus 1:6)

  • Human Sexuality

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between one man and one woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. (Gen. 2:24; Gen. 19:5, 13; Gen. 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1: 26-29; 1 Cor. 5:1; 6:9; 1 Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4)

  • Abortion

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the physical or mental well-being of the mother are acceptable. (Job 3:16; Ps. 51:5; 139:14-16; Isa. 44:24; 49:1, 5; Jer. 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke 1:44)

  • Euthanasia

We believe that the direct taking of an innocent human life is a moral evil, regardless of the intention. Life is a gift of God and must be respected from conception until natural death. Thus we believe that an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder contrary to the will of God. Discontinuing medical procedures that are extraordinary or disproportionate to the expected outcome can be a legitimate refusal of over-zealous treatment. (Ex. 20:13, 23:7; Matt. 5:21; Acts 17:28)

  • Creation

We believe that God created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods. We reject evolution, the Gap Theory, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin. (Gen. 1-2; Ex. 20:11)

Authority of Statement of Faith: The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We do believe, however, that the foregoing Statement of Faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible and, therefore, is binding upon all members. All literature used in the church shall be in complete agreement with the Statement of Faith.
